All

I had two cars and decided I wanted to sell one of them ("car A")for something more practical and economical as we have a baby on the way. I spotted a nice car ("car B") and decided to go for it, putting on a deposit two weeks ago. I was hoping in the meantime that I would be able to sell car A, so that when my 1 week free insurance I got with car B ran out, I could change the details of car A insurance policy to car B. Schimples!

As it turns out, there's been little interest in Car A so I am now rapidly approaching the end of my 1 week free insurance.

I am thinking of transferring the Car A insurance policy to car B and then taking out a short-term policy for car A (1 month or 2 months maybe?) which I am hoping will cover it until it is sold. Does this sound like the most sensible plan to you or is there a better way to do it? The last thing I want to do is take out another full year insurance policy on the new car!

Thanks

Neil

If your not going to be using Car A you can get fire and theft insurance only for very cheap iirc!

Speak to your insure they may be able to have 2 cars on the policy, it might not be cheap but it keeps you legal.

Depending on your insurance company, you may be able to add the new car to your existing policy, I did this a few months ago when I bought my Jeep, and for the same reasons as you.
It cost me 70 quid or so, but I had both cars, fully comp on the same policy for 30 days

When I had 2 cars, I insured them on the same polciy for a month.

I bought my Focus 1.8 in Dec 06 but didnt sell my Focus 1.6 until Jan 07, was about a 5 weeks. With Norwich Union at the time, I just had my main policy on the 1.8 & the 1.6 was just added to it. I did cost to have them both on it. I was 20 at the time aswell.
