Hi?

Anybody have experience of the above tyres? - either Cento's or Sessanta's? Any difference between the two (other than tread pattern)?
Looking to replace my current continentals.

Thanks.

I replaced the run flats on my wife's 330d with Ultrac Sessantas a few months ago. Very impressed with them so far. The ride quality is also much improved now that the run flats have been ditched.

Aren't Sessantas the one with the odd directional treads that don't look like they're on the right way?

They tested the Ultrac Sessantos on a Golf GTI and it was only beaten by the Goodyear F1 though the Goodyear was a lot noisier. Then again, I find tyres tend to be car-dependent. I have Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres on the Mustang which hjave never put a foot wrong.

Thanks chaps.

Yes the sessanta does have an odd tread pattern, have ruled out the cento due to the reviews.

Agree that tyres are car specific - had Toyo T1R's on my old 172 which were, grippier (is that a word?) than the sport contacts that were on there originally. Although the T1R's suit lighter cars.

Falken FK452's have a good review for their price, although would wear quickly on my superchipped ST (judging by reviews).

Cheers.

Sessantas were good, but wore even quicker than 452s on my (standard) ST. I had to really wear them right down onto the TWIs to get 5k miles out of the fronts, 10k from the rears.

I have these on my Honda ATR. Seem to have good all round performance. Wet weather they hold the road very well with no wheel spin unless really provoked. Ride / steering feel is good with low tyre noise.

The previously fitted Nankangs where terrible. So the Vredestein didn't have to be very good to beat them, they really are night and day apart. Nankangs really have ste wet weather (none existent) grip. Actually they are just ste in every weather condition.

Blimey.

Watch the load ratings on the Sessantas on some sizes... I was advised against them on the Mondeo ST.

Thanks both re load rating and wear rate on the sessanta's.

Hmmmm, undecided again now!

I've had the car for 15 months and done 7k miles. Conti's were around 4mm when I bought the car, so would roughly last 12k miles.

Any recommendations for tyres with a limit of around £260 for the pair?

Cheers.

I keep meaning to try Dunlop SP Sport Maxx's again. I had them on mine when I bought it and they seemed to last a while and gripped very well, but with not having run them from new I didn't really keep track of quite how many miles they'd have done.

Yup, have them on my motor. Tyre fitter and myself spent a lot of time making sure they were on correctly.

Great tyre mind, fantastic in the wet.

When new they are awful, take the first 50miles very very easy, after that brilliant.

Wear wasnt the best, 330lb tq in a Vx FWD kinda ate them, but it was fun!

I know not many people care what tyres look like, but i do and with a decent width the thread looks brilliant.

Had the Sportrac 2 on my Jaguar XJ6 and they were excellent, particularly in the wet. Rather noisy but FAR more predicatable when driving hard than the stty Falken Ziex 912s I replaced them with.

+1

Have these on my 182, and am very happy with them. Great tyres

I have about 8000 miles on mine and they're still barely worn on the Mustang.

Kumho Ectas are a good budget tyre which do nothing too badly or well but good for the price. Read good reviews of the Hankook Evo V12 too.

Not the same pattern or even genre of tyre that you are looking at, but we put Vredestein Quattrac 3 all season tyres on the Impreza, and they have been very good indeed. Brilliant in the snow, ice and wet and good in the dry.

I preferred the original Ultrac over the Sessenta version.

Why???? They have directional arrows and outside, inside on the tyres.

Cracking tyre, have them on my CLK and grip excellent.

That kind of torque eats them?
I'm considering them for my 159, also love the look of the thread and I've read good reviews.

So they actually wear very fast?

Sizes will help us recommend a tyre, but the old 3 way adage does apply to tyres

- Good Performance
- Good Tread life
- Cheap Price

Pick 2.
