Hi
New boy here so go easy.

The other day a car decided to plough into the side of my car. My car is a cat c writeoff (even though its only the rear door that has slightly bent) and needs the VIC test and so on to get it back on the road. My car is a V reg Mondeo LX 1.8 and has got about 85k on the clock. I now need to decide if I should fix my car or get another one that I have just seen.
The car I have seen is a 97 Mondeo LX 1.8 with 120k on the clock but has a full and upto date service history with reciepts for EVERYTHING. Its only £450 and it would more than likely cost about that to get my other back on the road.
Advice would be nice from anyone who is poor like me and has been in the same situation.

Thanks in advance

I had a 2.0 LX 97 Mondeo and come MOT time it did have a few issues like it needed new discs and the bushes were starting to wear and cosmetically the sills were getting scabby and so forth so it's not just the cost, it's what it's going to need.

Is it worth waiting to see what the insurer will offer you for yours? I assume you are claiming from the Third Party.

Forgot to say , they gave me £1000 but I kept the car so I got £950. She admitted full liability for it

Ah fair enough. In your shoes I'd probably just look to see what Mondeo I could get for £950 then - i.e. get the best I can for the money I had to play with.
