Hi all,

I just renewed my car insurance - elephant were able to give me the lowest quote by a significant margin. As usual, there was the usual shenanigans with inputting a 1.8L cab mx-5 mk2 or a cab 1.8L mk2 mx-5 and getting quotes with £200 between them. Interestingly, Adrian Flux and many of the others were quoting £2k for a 23 y/o in London on an mx-5.

Although this time the telesales guy said 'if I put on the extra personal insurance cover, its reducing your quote by £25'. I triple checked he actually meant my total outgoings would be £25 less, and that it wasn't some sort of hidden charge, and accepted.

How does this make ANY sense? More cover...less money.

Its a current test in sales, Ancillary products like the personal injury cover are Pure profit for the insurer as a third party company deals would actually payout in the event of a personal injury claim so what they do is offer to reduce the insurance premium for you to take out the injury cover hope that makes sense but i doubt it does hehe

ok Personal injury cover is £29.95 full price elephant get the full £29.95 but can w/o £25 from the insurance policy itself as it isn't a guaranteed price its just a quote and the money taken goes into a pot to pay claims so may not be profit.
