Off to France tomorrow and was just wondering what petrol prices are like on both the motorway and in town? Or am I better off filling up in the uk before crossing the channel?

Thanks in advance.

Cheaper here now, largely due to Euro rate. Best fill up with all your groceries too biggrin

I just checked as I'm off to France in a week, it's roughly £1.05/l on the motorways, about 95p in towns...

ETA: Clearly it's best t double check...

ETA again: Just me being thick, I've been looking at diesel... silly

I think diesel was cheaper, but UL and SUP were bloody expensive!

Amazed if you saw diesel for 1.49! Thta's very high and sounds more like the super unleaded. Diesel normally hovers around the 1 euro mark, a bit more on motorways.

That price was a Careforre Marché in berlogne. not running a car ATM so dont know of prices out in the oooolooo. Will look at Carefour Hesdin on the way past on the way to work tomorrow. But remember those prices are Euro:

Just come back from 3000 miles in france, italy, switzerland, luxemburg, belgium and holland

We saw anywhere between 1.15 and 1.58 euros. And diesel is still cheaper than petrol there.

Off the motorways, it worked out roughly similar to the prices here.

2 weeks ago, we paid between 1.35 and 1.45, saw it as high as 1.49 for 95.

So about the same on average.

I was going to post this back in June but figured I'd just get flamed for buying supermarket petrol, bad punctuation or something. However what the hell...

Petrol seemed to be a similar price (little lower) to the UK in most non-motorway garages and definitely cheaper in supermarkets. *However* what I did notice was that the price of 98 was usually only 1 cent more than 95 smile and in the big Leclerc in Bayeux there was some kind of petrol promo on and it was the same price.

You can guess what my car was drinking on it's holidays biggrin (BTW it's a modern 5.0 V8 and I couldn't tell any difference at all).

Which begs the question - why is 98 so much dearer in the UK?
