audi q5 or q7
you wont find anything better than that to be honest, amazing build quality, wont ever go wrong, holds its value
Not expected from you at all that was it? Have you seen the topic with your MANY fanboy statements about Audi.you wont find anything better than that to be honest, amazing build quality, wont ever go wrong, holds its value
OP A fairly recent Disco or RRVogue could be yours for that money. If you are looking new then Outlander/4007/C-Crosser is a good shout too.
A bit more different, but I have heard good things about the Renault Koleos

Oh S-Line how I love you!you wont find anything better than that to be honest, amazing build quality, wont ever go wrong, holds its value
Depends if you want to actually go off road? the Audi would be a no no for actual off road work but otherwise is a good car, you could get a 4.2TDi easily for that sort of money ~330bhp, 0-60 6.4sec, not bad for something that weights 3245 kg ?
Obvious choices after that are something like a Range Rover or Range Rover Sport, I'd punt for the 3.6 TDV8 at a minimum or the 4.2 S/C but that will drink a little no doubt.
New shape BMW X5? look lovely in my opinion, xDrive30d engine looks pretty adequate and in budget?
Personally I'd go for either the Audi Q7 4.2TDi or the X5 30d as the RR or RRS engines don't blow my socks off unless you go for the uber thirsty S/C models.
EDIT:
Just thought about a Merc GL ? you could get a GL420 CDI for 30k but they just look a little drab and boring to me.

For an all rounder it has to be a Disco.... You will get a decent one for less than your budget and they are luxurious, well built, stylish and more classy than most others out there.....Oh, and amazing off road, especially for a car designed to be a daily driver and luxury vehicle!
If its just for off road though, has to be a tricked out Defender!
....Nearly forgot about a Cayenne Turbo hmmm

Why on earth do you want to spend that on a lumpen 4x4? You can get real cars for £30k!
Good Point!Just think of the fun you could have with that budget! Easily have a 10 car garage full of icons and highly exciting machines! Or an RS4 or something of a similar fun rating! - In fact, why don't you look at an RS6 estate if it's the space your after.....easily pick up an MTM tuned beauty for that budget!

As the current owner of a RR , I'd go for the Audi Q7. I love my RR but in the short time I've had it I've been given several signs that it may very well soon let me down. The odd random warning message that fixes itself on the next start-up do not help with the long term confidence thing , however my former car , Audi A6 Avant ( Front wheel drive manual) , never once missed a beat in 18 months and not a warning light / message to be seen. When the time comes to part with the RR I'll be going back to an A6 avant , this time in quattro 3.0 tdi Auto guise

I would go Toyota Landcruiser (Amazon). Much better off road than a RR and IME more practical.
If you're after a soft-roader, you could do a lot worse than the Cayenne...even for off-road ability.
Cheers

is it much better offroad than an RR? (not being provocative, genuinely interested)If you're after a soft-roader, you could do a lot worse than the Cayenne...even for off-road ability.
