yes, I demand a new supervan, I'd take a new approach ad put a WRC engine and running gear in it this time though.

I'd love to see a modernised supervan. Great big V8, even bigger supercharger, 4WD and some lairy bodywork

A modern version would be a hybrid with stop-start technology. wink

Maybe we'll see a new supervan in 2015.

EDIT-

I just watched the on-board videos, is that van running..... stretched tyres?!!

As far as I remember Supervan 3, itself being Supervan 2 with the Transit new generation smiley front added in 1995, has had the GT40 engine removed and it has been replaced with a V6 from a Mondeo IIRC

There was a Transit in Martini WRC colours but I can't remember what engine it had. Was featured on TG of 5th Gear.

The original Mk1 Supervan featured the GT40 engine. The latest version, Supervan 3, originally had a formula 1 engine fitted. However, this wasn't practical so it was replaced with a supercharged pro-sports 3000 Cosworth engine. Supervan 3 now resides in semi-retirement with the Ford Heritage Collection on Ford's Dagenham estate. All being well SV3 will be making a rare appearance at teh Ford Fair at Silverstone next month.

No it didn't have a normal diesel engine. From what i remember it was about 220-250bhp, a bit of fun i'd imagine!

The World Rally Transit was built by the Ford of Britain PR team in 2000 and served as a promotional vehicle when the then new model Transit launched.

The Martini livery was the same as the Focus rally cars of that year. WRT featured lowered suspension, special carbon racing brake pads, full up-graded rally dashboard and five-point racing harness. Tuning uprated the standard 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine to 165 bhp rather than the standard 75 bhp and gave a top speed of 130 mph. The 0-60 time is 7.9 seconds. Like Supervan 3 the WRT is now part of the Ford Heritage Collection.
