Bro has just bought an EK4 VTI and it looks mint but the doughnut didn't run an hpi check on it - would anyone be able to check for me?

Cheers

Why don't you spend £14.99 with the RAC like the rest of us.

Bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted anyway.

If you have bought the car just get a £2.99 one on your phone.

This is something that confuses and annoys me...

a) as has been said it's a little academic now isn't it?

b) if you are spending 100's/1000's of the had earned on a car what is another 40 quid (full Hpi is that i think..) on peace of mind, WHY expect somebody else to do it for you???

For all the people that just say pay for one yourself, there is always one that just goes and does it for nothing. Which is why people keep asking!

Because they have no reason to lie?
they have no reason to spend their own money and tell you the truth

Surely it's like any question on here? People could ring a lawyer, accountant, mechanic etc and be billed for the time or ask on here and hope that somebody can give them some advice.

There are traders who pay a subscription for work, it costs them nothing extra to whip a reg through as a favour to a fellow ph'er.

Ok fair enough, I didn't really look to see the OP's history.

In that case, given he's on here for a freebie without really contributing, I'll amend my advice to- use one of those cheap £5 text services!

There are several people on here who are in the trade and have unlimited access to HPI checks. They are also well known enough around here to be trusted.

Still not free, they cost money for each check even to trade, or subscrip or whatever. Its not as much as it is to the public, but its still asking for something for nothing where the thing has a the market value. Wouldn't do it with cars! It's only pence anyway, and if someone is prepared to do it then that's up to them.

Ha was a bit cheeky I know - I am on Evo more often than not.

I dug deep and paid £3 for text check and it's all good. Thanks to those that offered though.

Is your £14.99 too good for it?

Shakes head at yet another 'HPi check the car AFTER I've bought it' thread.
