right, now ive got the missus a mpv type thing, im on the hunt for some open top commuting/fun.

prob only do about 6000 miles a year which will include a 5 commute down A roads each day.

i dont need any more than 2 seats, nor do i need any kind of luggage space.

the car need to be quick(ish) (ie 60 in less than 7secs)

it needs to be reliable, so less chance of silly repair bills, the better.

obviously the cheaper the running costs the better too.

my last 4 cars have been turbos and i do like the idea of a remap if possible, but open to NA i guess.

ok, what have you got?

Interesting OP, I too am looking for a two seater under 10K, well actually under 6K would be better but potentially up to 10.

Have been looking at a few turbo'd MX5s online, there is also a Boxster S near my home for 10K.

Will be interesting to see what ideas the PH collective come up with as I get home next week and hope to buy shortly after.

Supercharged MX5 biggrin

And you'll have change, and get over to the MX5 Section on here to hear all the stories of how good the MX5 is even in base form wink

I guess if I had £10k for a convertible I'd be looking at these:

S2000

Boxster S

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1790070.htm

Lots of nice VX220s for under £10k

If you really don't need any luggage space etc:

I also quite like the look of this with that colour/wheel combo, though it may not be quick enough:

Phase 1 Volvo C70 T5 Cabby?

Can't get much more comfy than that... a bit bargey round corners but nice and fast, pretty cheap and (if looked after correctly) pretty bulletproof in the engine dept. Don't go winding the boost up too much though cos that's when conrods decide to bend!

Nothing against mx5's, but I don't think a standard car will be exotic enough, looks a bit run of the mill plus needs more oomph.

My money would (and will) go on an s2000, however the z4 2.5 or 3.0 are great options (much cheaper to insure).

Boxster s at that budget IMO are a bit ropey, plus will be the 986 (nasty interior IMO), plus will cost more to run. (but in all fairness is the best of the lot.)

MX5, Boxster or TVR Chim/Griff.

S2000 & Z4 are outclassed in that company IMO
