I've had another run in with a couple that object to my parking. I've parked my car on a residential cul de sac, admittedly with two wheels on the pavement. I'm careful not to block their driveway.

They claim all sorts of bks, such as ambulances wouldn't be able to get to the end of the road etc, which is totally untrue.

It culminated in them giving me a load of attitude, and threatening to call the police. I assume the police wouldn't be interested as I'd have thought it's a civil matter. Also I remained calm and didn't raise my voice or swear etc.

The real reason is because they're a sad old couple with nothing better to do, and don't want the car outside their house.

You will need to tax, test and insure it if it will be parked on the road.

Parking on a footway is either prohibited or not (as a specific matter) depending on where it's happening.
Unnecessary obstruction is a separate offence.
A car parked & unattended on a road without insurance is an offence.

To be fair, you are not supposed to park cars on the pavement. If, by parking the car entirely on the road, it's causing an abstruction, then you shouldn't park it there, and the old codgers are right.

Otherwise, it will need to be taxed, insured 3rd party liability and have an MOT. It doesn't matter who it's registered to, but if you're not the registered keeper you might struggle to insure it.

Re wheels on the pavement, they didn't care about the two cars directly in front of mine with wheels on the pavement too. Also I'm causing no obstruction.

It might be worth taxing and paying for a months insurance on a stheap just to get equal.

I've found a cracking cortina estate that will fit the bill. Especially if I spray 'turbo power' and other such crap down the side.

If they complain to the bill about parking on the pavement then this will involve the owners of the other cars that do the same, making the complainants very unpopular. If they complain about it blocking the road then you're stuffed.....unless it doesn't cause a problem of course

Just next to it, I live above a row of shops which is directly next to the cul de sac. I park a matter of meters from my flat.

This was one of their other points, which to me is irrelevant as it's either an obstruction or not, irrespective of where I live.

No obstruction. In fact I'd say its less of an obstruction than the other since I park it on a corner, therefore it sticks out less than the others.

Said tw@ts are disinterested in the other cars as they're not outside their house.

Buy an old Volvo for £200 and reverse it into their house.

You may not consider it so, but if others who can do something about it do that may prove problematic.

If it's on a corner or causing an obstruction they could by right....if not let them do their worst, or ask the Bill yourself....pre-emptive strike as it were

The police could tow it just for being parked on a corner. Is there really nowhere else you could park?

Hmmm, not a private cul de sac. It's a public road. Anyone is entitled to park on it.

Theres a lot of plans here, I believe the best way to handle would be to explain that you feel they are being slightly pathetic on the matter. See what they say, if they go mad- tell them you have tried to be reasonable and then leave it.

Why don't you just find somewhere else to park, (if possible)

Talk of buying a banger especially to annoy them smacks of childishness, tbh.

Are they honestly being unreasonable? Would you like someone parking (long term) outside your house?
