A very large car rental firm has started parking there cars in the street outside our house. They have had upto 10 cars parked there at one time. The local branch is over a mile away.

Parking is really becoming an issue, I doubt there is anything I can do, but any advice would be welcome.

Phone your local rag, they will run a story on it and ask the head office for comment.... that'll soon put a stop to it wink

Trading standards may have something to say, it is a long shot but worth a go and the council/ police.

What is all this go to the police business?! They're registered cars parked in a public street.

You should:

Approach the firm, make a complaint in writing and ask the branch manager to stop the practise.

When he doesn't, contact head office and ask the regional manager to intervene, again in writing.

When he doesn't, send copies of your requests to the CEO of the firm at the registered address.

He will probably tell them to stop fking about.

Cover all the windscreens in water and then liberally sprinkle with flour. They should move them all pretty shortly after that to stop them getting vandalized.

First step would be to contact your local authority as there might be restrictions on trading as said property.

No no no no no no no! First step is definitely to contact the branch manager of the hire company. Why can people not just have an adult conversation to resolve small conflicts anymore?

Surely if the cars are taxed/mot/insured, they can park where they like assuming tere are no parking restrictions in place?

It's possible it is just customers not sure where to leave them, but in that instance you'd probably find they would shift them sooner. What company?

Annoying though this must be there isn't anything you can do except ask very nicely if they wouldn't mind parking somewhere else as it's inconveniencing you.

Public roads are a free for all, there's no such thing as 'your space' or 'your street' when it comes to parking and people who think there is DO MY HEAD IN. Like the numpties where I used to live in Brighton who would put cones outside 'their' spaces. I'd pull up, put their cones on the pavement and park there if there was nowhere else. Quite often they'd vandalise my company cars in retaliation which as I didn't pay a penny in excess charges meant I'd make a point of parking there in future, just to annoy them.

It's ridiculous the somebody feels they own part of a road to the extent that they put cones out. And even more infuriating that people vandalise cars for merely being parked in 'their' spot.
