Afternoon chaps,

Quick question regarding a warranty claim, your advice would be most appreciated!

The warranty company have sent a cheque to reimburse me for the work carried out on the car. However the cheque isn't for the full amount, it's minus the value of a part that was changed as a necessary consequence of the work.

Now, do I:

A) reject the cheque and try for the full amount, or
B) bank the cheque and then go back for the remainder?

I'm worried that banking the cheque first means I've indicated it's "case closed".

Cheers
AW

If you don't mind me asking, what are the figures involved?

About 10% of the total claim. Easily written off (e.g. a couple of rounds in the pub) but it's a matter of principle.

Check your policy documentation. Warranty may not cover parts which do not contribute to the failure even if they are changed as part of the repair.

This is quite often standard practice with warranty claims.
For example water pump failure on many cars requires the timing belt to also be changed. Warranty company will cover all labour plus the pump etc but not the replacement timing belt kit.
