I currently have a company car with my present job but I am looking to leave that job, so will lose my company car and will have to buy my own car.

Now I used to have my own car before i got my company car, and managed to get 3 years NCB saved up. I have a letter from my old insurance company to prove this.

The issue is that I was recently involved in an RTC, where my company car was hit by debris from off the back of a truck trailer and my company car was very very badly damaged. As the truck driver didn’t stop and the truck hasn’t been traced, I had to claim off the company car insurance etc etc.

My question is that will this affect my 3 years NCB from my personal insurance? The company car insurance policy holder is my employer so I would assume it will have no effect on my own NCB? When I take out my own policy on my own car, would this claim on the company car insurance affect my own NCB in any shape or form?

I suspect not as i wasn’t to blame for the RTC, and there was no 3rd party to claim from?

Also, when they ask if you have had any accidents in the past x many years, do i need to declare this none fault accident? If so, would that affect a personal insurance quote?

Am I also correct to assume that I still have a 3 years NCB from my old personal insurance policy?

Apologies for the long post, just wanted to describe it as clearly as possible!

For your new insurance you will be asked about previous claims or losses. You will need to declare the company car claim.

NCB is for no claims, not no fault.

Your old insurance NCB may still apply; it will depend on how long ago it was earned and on the company. Best to ask them directly.

Cheers for that guys, clears that all up! Just annoyed that I have lost my company car NCB, due to a caseless trucker.
