....seems to be that you dont talk about Cannonball?

Seen two threads now deleted or closed or linking to deleted videos.

Is this a PH policy or a Cannonball policy?

I can see that it would make sense for people who do it shut-up about it, before it gets cracked down on by hand-wringing do-gooders.

Didn't this all die a death after those pair of tools killed an elderly couple and ran for the border?

Could be but I expect the general public and the Police will lump both together.

Great quote in the Times from the French Police, something like "Spoilt fools with more money than sense"....
Oh Im disgusted by their antics.

Were I in a position to, cocking around with a load of very expensive cars, hotels and women for 2 weeks would hold no appeal for me whatsoever.

Nope. No sir.

Not much talk about it really is there!

If what you mean is; an unlucky guy who unfortunately had some stupid elderly driver decide to turn out of in front of them, while they were driving safely well within the speed limit, and unfortunately said elderly driver was in a rather old car lacking many modern safety features was unfortunately and tragically killed in the incident, but then the owners mistake was trying to continue with their trip, then yes that did happen and it ended that year's Gumball 3000. But no it did not stop the Gumball happening again, and nor did it stop other rallies.

And also for the record, if you add up 12 years of Gumball with an average 150 cars driving 3000 miles; that's 5,400,000 miles driven, is it that surprising that there has been a single fatal accident?

We deleted one thread started by the organiser because we felt that it was promotion of his own event.

There's no policy not to allow discussion of Cannonball here though. Talk away...

And if someone killed your granparents and ran away from the scene you would be fine with that?

No, I wouldn't. However if my grnadparents caused the accident that killed them, I'd have difficulty in blaming the other driver, irrespective of how rich they might be.

No, but I think the fact that you refer to "someone" as opposed to "Cannon/Gum/Whateverball" should suggest that angst be directed at the driver not the event.

These things are events, that most of us would love to do once (maybe more, I don't know, never been) so I'd be careful of looking a little green before unloading without some elaboration.

I'm sorry, but what the hell does that have to do with the rally? That could have been anybody, any time, anywhere.

And also if "someone killed your grandparents"; if someone had killed my grandparents then no of course I would not be happy, I'd probably fly half-way around the world to find them myself if needs be. If however as is the case it was a genuine accident which was actually their fault, then it's a slightly different story...

I thoroughly envy the people that take part in the gumball!
If I had the money to spare I know I'd be doing it!

However I thought the story of the Porsche driver went that he was overtaking therefore on the wrong side of the road and went head on into the elderly couples car killing them? Well over the speed limit?
I will stand corrected as I'm not certain of this bit am sure that's what was said at the time

Maybe somewhere in the middle? Although do take into account the source of that.

Anyway not really worth going back over the debate of who's fault it was, it's been done to death on forums across the internet. The thing that gets me is how everybody assumes because of one silly man that all people doing these rallies are horrible, bad people. As if the PH organised European trips are any better??? (I've never done one, just guessing)

Like you say, its individuals not events! I guess critics attack events due to the type of individuals they attract?
Pointless! I know I'd love to attend the gumball and any of the PH meets!
