Left-hand drive
Discussion
After 900 miles in the E30 M3 I've become quite fond of left-hand drive. It's not that bad in the UK and feels a bit 'exotic' too (well it does to me anyway). An added bonus is closer views of pedestrians who might catch your eye (ahem).
So, does this mean a future if cheaper cars for me? Perhaps it does, but am I alone in my love for the left?

You get to exit straight to the pavement, and European trips are a must.
Only downside are ticket machines at car park entrances when you are traveling solo. Still it's always an option to reverse in if you don't want to run around the car.

Reminds me of an article I read in Classic and Sports Car I think - written by the late great Alan Clark MP, among other things he explained he always ordered his Porsche 911's in left hand drive, because a proper A road was wide enough for three cars, so when overtaking he could drive up the middle seated on the left meant I think it went 'drive at wing mirror clipping distance' up the middle, he then concluded should this passtime kill him he could have I took the middle way engraved on his tombstone. So, does this mean a future if cheaper cars for me? Only driven LHD hire in countries paying homage to Napolean.
My memory of the article may not be letter perfect but that was the gist of it.

Given the weak pound relative to the euro I don't think you're going to see much in the way of 'cheaper' cars like for like.
Back when I was buying LHD cars from Europe at 1.6 euro to the pound they seemed cheap.
Given enough power and the correct technique LHD is no problem whatsoever in the UK and the converse is true of RHD cars in Europe. The only drawback I can think of is if you were so fat you couldn't lean across to pay at tolls.......

Have run three LHD cars, all fabulous
just need to remember to leave something in the passenger door pocket because you will forget and open the wrong door in front of an admiring crowd...
Shame the fx rates are crap at the moment, loads of uk registered LHD cars are heading back to the continent

Been running a LHD for the past year and have had 0 problems, OK so toll's etc can force you to get out or use a grabber thing but other than that not a single issue, over taking isn't a problem as long as you have plenty of power to hand.
just position the car differently, you'll start to look up the inside on sweeping left handers or hang back a little more on rightTry doing my commute in one.
Ok in town, ok on motorways/dual carriageways. Not ok on single lane A/B roads full of lorries and slow stuff - hang back so you can see past them to overtake, and the car behind overtakes you.

I'd rather drive an S Line TDi if it had the steering wheel on the correct side. Even that would get me there quicker, despite the extra weight of all that luxury and imagine.
