Had my first crash tonight frown

Going around a nice right hand bend, backend went (drive a corsa B and I wasnt speeding) and I lifted of and it snapped around the other way as I ploughed me way through a hedge and into a field. Somehow it stayed shiny side up. I dont know how, but it did. Dont know about damage yet, that will have to wait until it is light.

I just feel like a cock. I wasnt trying, I wasnt pushing on and yet I lost it. Fair enough it was wet etc but still, I was driving sensiblly and steady. And yet I binned it frown Really gutted.

Anyway, have got it off my chest.

Thanks.

It happens ... but you're in one piece and, I imagine from your post, you'll learn from the experience so it's not a complete disaster

Yeah that is what I was thinking although my first though was 'oh me car' hehe

It had been raining like I said and I have recently put steel wheels back on rather than the alloys I used to have so the tires obviously let go in a much more violent way then the bigger ones (or something like that LOL)

The damage I reckon is going to be all the right hand paint work from the hedge and the front bumper from where I got dragged out which brings me onto another point I forgot to put in my OP..

a HUGE HUGE thank you to the 10-15 people that stopped to make sure I was OK!! Thank you very much everyone and an even bigger thank you to the truck driver who pulled me out of the ditch. You sir are a superstar and I hope, as you said when I tried to give you beer money, someone is there for you when your in need. Thank you very much mate!!

Come on, not convincing me, we've all been there, I'm the best of the best in my 1.something. You walked away, many haven't, take it as a lesson. I should know, as a youngster, crashed many a 1.something, and never was it driver error.......not!!! Its something no one can teach, it has to be learned, most times the hard way my friend. Move on and take care. smile

Sorry to here that chap, glad you are OK though.

Happens at this time of year. First rains after a sunny spell and the roads get all greasy.

rain after a prolonged period of dry weather always turns the roads slipperier than a slippery beaver that's just been shaved.

Nice skid marks, lol

OP you're lucky really, I know a girl that swerved to avoid a cyclist and ended up jumping a ditch and landing in a field! Pretty sure she wrote off her new twingo sport

Now that road looks as dry as a bone to me,

Still, there's a lesson there somewhere.

Ahh yes diesel....Responsible for so many unexplained single vehicle accidentswhistle
It does happen though; I tend to be very careful when driving around Erith near the Dartford crossing.

I managed to spin my dads Clio on a slip road, the back end slid out. Funnily enough a Clio was behind me and didn't spin, she was quite surprised how that happened. (Afterwards I did replace the 200,000 mile old rear shocks which helped).

I also got my Integra sideways on a roundabout pottering about at normal speeds.

I have never had it happen anywhere else apart from around that area.

I always tend to be careful when it has been bone dry for a couple of days as the first bit of rain seems to stir up all the stuff laying dormant on the road.

Well I have done 4 trackdays in the car I binned tonight. 2 of which were in the wet so I thought I knew how to handle the car in the wet at speed. Turns out I cant even handle my car in the wet at sensible speeds!!! I would honestly put my hand up and say 'yeah I was going fast' if I was but I wasnt. Even my dad agreed I wasnt going fast and everything I do in my car he says happend due to how fast I was going. Like I ran over a cyclist the other day (long story) and my dad said 'going to fast' when I wasnt even doing 20 (thank god!!) (Cyclist fault and he admitted it) so it is safe to say I wasnt going to fast wink

My mate managed to put his 3week old Saab 93 convertible with me in it up a verge, narrowly missing the base of a pretty large tree.
He claimed he was swerving to avoid a fluffy little bunny rabbit!
I wouldn't mind but I was shouting SHARP LEFT!!
