Am I the only one who actually finds this new "safety" device somewhat of a hazard?

There are the areas where I struggle with them:

-often the lights can be dazzling
-the light obscurers or partially hides the car
-a combination of the above mean it is then far harder to judge speed and distance of the approaching vehcile
-more aimed at the LED variants, but they are distracting and focus your attention away from the road and other potential hazards

I find it amazing that on some cars the blasted things are so bright that they dim themselves so you can actually see the indicators.

And while I'm at it - the OHs sister has just got a new Golf - wtf is going on with the front foglights - lighting up left and right when she maneuvres - it just looks like she's got serious wiring problems.

All stupid st that would be getting disabled the second I took delivery if I was so unfortunate.

Yes - the foglight on the appropriate side comes on. Looks idiotic, is useless and is yet more st to go wrong in future years.

Did you moan about halogen lights in the 60's? How about HID when that came out?

The point is people DID moan back then, why? Because they were different so they looked straight at them. The same will happen with these.

think i may have seen that on topgear at the weekend when they took those barges out for a spin on the tarmac. did wonder why the hell the lights were going off, I just assumed it was photochopping by topgear

Maybe, but DRL's and one eyed foglights seem to smack of manufacturer one-upmanship and overly fussy design to some (including me).

You do all realise this is an EU requirement now? Manufacturers aren't all doing it for fun.
