putting a stage 2 rallye engine in my saxo 1.1
Discussion
Its a bolt for bolt conversion, but without the ECU you're not really gaining much. The MAP on the Rallye ECU is way better than the VTR one, which is purely setup for economy and a bit of low down torque.
You really need an ECU (preferably unlocked although people can do this for you) and the engine bay loom, which matching single plug connection. Just make sure your mk2 doesn't have triple plug.

this is something that comes up quite a lot.
the sensible answer is dont even bother.
in our championship most people use saxo's or 106's, its not worth the trouble and effort of building a small engined one into a bigger engined one. most things that matter are different.
so upgrading a road car to a bigger engine is just not worth the effort, cost, time, problems.
sell the engine to someone who can use it and but one ready to go.

Why? I had a VTS engine kicking around and a mk2 VTR. Many said, sell the VTR, buy a VTS...it's not worth the bother. But I know the VTR, I know what's wrong with it, what's good about it and enjoy the challenge of making something better. I now have a VTR 16v. It's not like it's a rare original car or anything, plus one less original 1.1 on the road isn't going to hurt anyone.the sensible answer is dont even bother.

At least then the lad can do a project thread to give the grammer police something to get hard over too. Everyone wins!

he is talking about a 1.1, as the base car, then upgrading to 1.6.
so, 1.1 brakes, suspension, loom, fuel system, different rear beam, anti roll bars etc, steering (non pas) its a long list, and it probably affects things like immobiliser, electrics, dash etc.
The last thing you want is a dangerous car but now faster car, and taking a crappy little(old) french hatch and trying to make it faster by putting its big brothers engine in it is not a good idea (unless maybe you are a mechanic, and two complete cars side by side to swap all the bits into).
Just buy a VTR.
They are cheap and plenty of them.
VTR gives you 90 or 100 bhp depending on age.
A rallye gives 100 bhp.
This is the sort of thing you think is a great idea when you are 18.

i am a mechanic and i do have most of the stuff i need i hit a bus in my rallye so the ecu is destroyed and i samshed the inlet into the steering rack i got all the brakes and suspention i need to upgrade it just havin the trouble with ecu and inlet as i cant find one any where also my gear box is smashed to f
k was thinkin of puttin the 1.1 box on aswell will lower the speed but up the excelaration

The 1.1 box may not take the power upgrade, although that is only a guess.
I would imagine that would be the case. Wouldn't the ratios be totally wrong too? To be fair it's probably doable with the parts you have but would be a lot of work for not much gain.
(plus, you're way better fitting a 2.0 redtop into an old corsa if you wanna do something like this
