Simple as that, yay or nay?

Coming up on 5 years old, 31,000 miles covered.

Ten internet points to anyone who can succesfully argue the case for an MX-5 for wife, dog and baby carrying duties. At the same time.

Oh, it has the Lux pack so the imagine should be up there with the best of the best, the Audis of this world.

Great when you are in the mood to thrash it, Day to day it's a hard riding, erm, renault - which doesn't look that nice in my opinion.
Still, each to their own

You see, this is where I hit a wall too, but my first-hand evidence isn't that bad... My Clio never went wrong, my grandfather's Clios, 19s and Meganes never went wrong and of my mother's three Lagunas, only one blew a turbo after 120,000 miles...

Can we keep negative stuff out of this please, my wife might take a read later on.

Don't wish upon anyone an older than 4 year old Renault . Good thing the silly keys never go wrong

There's a pic of my 360bhp if you care to search, you lazy git...

And it's not French...French electricity doesn't work, in case you didn't know...

I would give it a go, the looks are Marmite... The capability as a drivers car is well documented. I suspect day to day it will be no S-Line A3! But perfectly acceptable, but that is supposition on my part.

hehe

This is the key, they really do have a problem with electronics frown

Papa should still go for it though. The 2 sensors that went on my Clio totalled £80. One can be fitted without tools and the other with just a socket set.

Well I'll have a look and see. None of our opinions will matter anyway if the missus can't fit an unecessarily over-sized buggy in the boot.

Asking 6.5k. I haven't bothered checking if that's a good price or not.

I would suggest that a Leon Cupra R would be a better ownership proposition, and a nicer drive too.

Would be a little older for that money though.

I'd thought about these but weirdly they seem to attract a slightly scummier owner. Maybe scummy is the wrong word but too many heavily modified for my liking, the imagine has suffered.

You may have a point, some have fallen into the hands of a certain type by now.

What about an Octavia vRS, or a Focus ST170?

I just don't like the ST 170, can't put my finger on it, just really don't like them. Octavia VRS is a great suggestion but I'd want the 2 litre one, the estates are a little out of reach and those that aren't have galactic miles.

I know nothing about them but they do look good IMHO, despite reservations when they first launched. Back window attracts dirt apparently. Isn't that handling worth the risk in reliability?

I had a 230 R26 and had no problems at all, drove very well and was more than comfortable for day to day use, go for it, great cars.

My experience of renaults and reliability
1994 clio 1.4 done over 100k miles during ownership and it never let us down at all, general servicing was all that was spent on the car.
2003 clio 172 cup no problems
2005 clio 182 trophy, no real problems just a couple of sensors that failed
2007 megane r26 not a single problem either.
