Can it jam the jets up?

Reason being, I have an old Wolf cheapo petrol generator and I cannot get the damn thing started. I think I screwed the mixture up frown So, HAVE I gummed the jets?

Is it dangerous to have too much or to little oil?

Yes.
Perhaps.
Too much, too little, both bad.

Think you'll do more damage if not enough oil rather than too much.

I put some 2 stroke mix in a 4 stroke mower when I'd run out of neat petrol once, engine ran ok afterwards.

Oh tit.
Thinking about it I suppose too little would be bad due to lubrication. Next question I need to ask myself is..Is it really worth taking it apart to clear the problem.

I suppose it is the jet. Petrol in the float chamber (now all over my arm smile). Plug bone dry.

Thanks Neil, petrol always gives me the creeps. Mr Diesel, thats a good idea using it up in my old mower. I dont really have to worry that much about performance and will just smog out next doors washing.

It depends how badly the mix is out.

I would say too little is the worst, the engine might seize, too much would make it smoky and possibly foul the plug.

If it has been sitting for a while the jets could well be gummed up with the old fuel, it might be worth getting it opened up and blasting with carb cleaner, then making up a proper mix with fresh petrol and oil.

And sometimes 2 strokes are B1tches to start!

Sitting around scratchchin Well, yes. The last time I used it was to connect in via a battery charger for the TVR in the garage (no electricity and a cable would not reach).
That was a number of years back BUT it had no fuel in it. 2 stokes are a pain..but saying that, the strimmer fires up every year without fail.
