Hi guys

Looking for some new tyres all round for the gf's MKV golf tdi the tyre size is 195/65/15 the car is a general runabout used for shopping and baby duties. It needs to be suitable for all weather conditions we live in Scotland and be suitable for long motorway cruising at 90ish.

Thanks in advance

Toyo proxes cf1. Cheap and get great reviews. Ive got them on my car and do a combination of motorway slogs, city driving and the occasional country lane thrash and i've been happy so far. Done abput 2500 miles on them now.

Edited to fix retarded spelling, twice!

I got them from blackcircles.com, I think £53 squids a corner. Very good service.

For that sort of car and duties I'd be googling for the latest AutoExpress tyre-test - they test mainstream tyres not the sports ones that evo do.

I'd be looking for good wet-weather performance above all, and decent lifespan/noise second. Off the top of my head Uniroyal, Vredestein, Goodyear and Continental would probably come quite high up the list, although probably not in that order.

I am currently using Michellin Pilot Sport A/S. They are decent enough for bad days and good enough dry tractions to be relatively fun when the road is nice.

I have Falken FK452's on my Mk 4 Golf V5 , they suit the car very well, excellent wet or dry, no reason to think they wont also work well on the mk5 . Get them from camskill usually the cheapest.

They say we're in for another really cold winter, so have you considered Vredestein Quatrac 3s?
