Is this a scam?

My car is currently up for sale and have received this in an email today

Dear Seller,
I saw you car advert on the internet website for sale and am
interested in buying your car. So i will like you to kindly get back
to me soonest with the details of the car below:-
1)Present working condition of the car
2)Last asking price of the car
3)Mail any available photo of the car
4)Reason for selling the car
5)Mile age of the car
I will like you to you to know that my method of payment will be Bank draft.

I generally assume everyone on the internet is a 300lb Nigerian Scammer, that goes double when they have a cute pic as an av and claim to be a twenty somthing hottie.

It's a bit like driving on the basis everyone is an idiot and you won't be disappointed.

Not the same as the OP, but we sometimes get calls here in the PH office from buyers about potential scammers. You know the sort - shipping companies, money transfers, recently moved abroad, cheap cars etc

You tell them that its definitely a scam and in reply you get 'oh, but I really like it and its cheap' or 'I have the money ready and they sound so nice, are you sure?'.....sometime you just feel like saying go ahead then chap, send your money and see what happens.

We don't though, because we are nice people who like to help

It's priced in line with similar cars of similar age and mileage

Sign of the economic times? I think your ad is well written and since you cover all the bases it seems odd the guy emailed you those questions?

In the end a reply from a throw away account eg gmail / hotmail etc wouldn't hurt, my second rule is I never use my proper email account for anything except proper business with people / companies I already trust, I have a second gmail account for registering with sites etc. If I had to burn it my real world life wouldn't be affected.

You'll soon find out if it's a scam because the good christian will ask you for your bank details during prolonged emial ping pong.

Yeah, you are probably right about sign of the times. However, i've seen some t-jets go recently at similar prices. Guess it is just a case of hoping I drop lucky.

They are if they've owned it for 4 weeks, but in your case I wouldn't worry and Trabants advice is sound.
