Hi All,

I am looking at selling my V reg KA, however recently it has developed a fault that when changing gear or taking it out of gear it starts to rev, I have read some of the forums and they say its a sensor/valve that needs cleaning out? I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what a garage would charge to fix this or how to do this myself. I am looking at selling it for £200 so preferably I want to do it myself as its not worth a £100 garage bill.

any ideas appreciated.

thanks

Mine developed this fault when I had it, took it to local mechanic who said, it needed an ECU reset. think it's just unplugging it then plugging it back in again. Not sure. Didn't cost me anything though.

Pretty sure (but may be wrong....) that there is just a sensor on the back of the gearbox that controls revs and speedo at the same time. Really simple to do yourself, literally take it off and give it a clean and put it back on.

I'll phone the internet to see if they'll send me a picture of the gearbox for you to show you where it is.

Hopefully that's uploaded - first time I've done it. If it has, I believe the sensor is in the left hand side of the 'box as it's pictured, just where there appears to be a black cable sticking out.
