A chap at work is looking for a convertible, but seeing as he has 3 kids, is looking for one that has 3 use-able rear seats. The kids are all under 8 years old.

Budget, let's say £10k to £20k.

Over to the PH massive.

He's going to really struggle if they all need booster seats. I honestly can't think of a convertible with enough width to accommodate 3 boosters

Do the Audi A4 or the Merc CLK soft tops have the ability to secure 3 small folk on the rear seats ?

I have also looked for a modern convertible with 3 rear seats and come to the conclusion that there is no such thing. All seem to have two seats and more importantly only two seat belts.

I did wonder about a RR Corniche but they only have two large sumptuous seats biggrin

Or look at the 3 seat Multimac + whatever convertible it fits into.

Why? You can't get 3 booster seats in the back of it.

Not used them myself but have read good things about:

http://www.multimac.co.uk/3_child_car_seat

Pretty much means you can use any 2+2 you fancy.

ok there is a loop hole in the law for this:

Children: Child car seats
What the law says

The law says that all children up to 135cm tall (around 4'5"), or the age of 12, whichever comes first, in the front or rear seats in cars, vans and other goods vehicles must travel in the correct child restraint for their weight with very few exceptions.

Visitors to the UK from abroad must also use the correct child restraint for their children - there are no exceptions for them. Family and friends expecting visitors should make sure that their visitors understand the rules. They may need to help them make arrangements so that children use the correct child restraint at all times. Car rental companies can supply child restraints for their customers if booked in advance.

See summary table Q1 in FAQ section.
Exceptions to the rules

3) Where two occupied child restraints in the rear seat prevent you fitting a third. In this case, provided the front seat is occupied, a third child aged 3 years and over can use an adult seat belt (lap OR lap and diagonal) in the rear. If the front seat is free, then they must seat there using the correct child restraint.

Does that help?

http://www.dft.gov.uk/think/focusareas/children/ch...

Saab convertibles should have enough room as they are supposed to fit 5 adults.

It's just a Jeep Wrangler, bit like a Land Rover Defender only newer and better.
