Telegraph linky

There's a few in here that I can relate to... on/off the throttle or easily distracted. Plus I would add variable speeds on the motorway (argh!) and forgetting to change gear (entering roundabouts in 4th and changing half way round when the car nearly stalls )hehe

However I'm pretty sure I'm worse from her point of view!! Now obviously I'm a perfect driver <cough> but she will accuse me of driving too fast or aggressively, braking too late, going round corners too fast I'm sure the list goes on!

So, does your mrs scare YOU behind the wheel?!

If you ever read this - hello dear you're brilliant really!! ;-)

Mrs Gear slows down the closer she gets to the end of a motorway slip-road.

I'm yelling "Speed up for God's sake!"

And she's yelling "What? And have an accident at 70mph instead of 40?!"

Gah!

My missus enters roundabouts at 25mph in 5th, then maybe changes to 3rd. Maybe. She drives a 1.4 i30.

Otherwise she's not too bad, but I do prefer to drive - I'm a bad passenger in general.

Last time I was in the car with my OH driving, she crashed and wrote the car off.

That was last October, 2 months after she passed her test. She hasn't bothered getting a replacement...

Yes. I get scared, especially when I let her drive my car. My car isn't a super fast car, not by a long shot (RS Clio 172), but coming her coming from a Fiat Punto (60bhp) It scares the hell out of me when she puts her foot down a bit, although I guess I should be more scared when in the Punto. This is partly due to the fact it has brakes made of cheese and won't hold up particularly well if crashed.

Or when stopping in the middle of the High Street to turn right and don't take the racing line on roundabouts from the left hand lane.

Apart from that, she's not too bad whistle

Yes. She has too much faith in her POS car to hold the road.

She's even more frightening as a passenger though, screaming can be most offputting.

yikes

Do people really think like that?!

Politely inform her about speed differentials.

Seriously though, if people cannot join a motorway at about 70mph, they really shouldn't join them in the first place.

The only person in the wrold whom I trust to drive the car enough to fall asleep is my dad. Am a nervous passenger with anyone else.

i used to get scared at times with the ex. She is the only person i know who can roll a car onto its roof going up a hill and had a odd habit of driving inappropriately fast on small rural roads but slow as hell on a dual carriage way and motorway.

Yes.

I got a phonecall last week. GF in tears. (I was eating a Balti, so reluctant to answer the phone to start with!)

'I'm lost'

'So you don't know where you are?'

'Stratford. In a lay-by. Loads of lorries'

'So you're not lost!! Can't beleive you have disturbed my precious time with the boys and the balti. But on a serious note, please leave the lay-by. Quickly! Then follow the signs to birmingham. You will be fine.'

My ex scared the crap out of when I broke down, and she came out to tow me back, around M25, late so fairly empty, on end of shortish tow rope, and speeds averaging 70mph.....my ahole was going half a crown-sixpence all the way home...soon upgraded my RAC to full recovery....
