good scrap yards in south west
Discussion
Not sure you'd class it as good, but there's one at a place called something like Blackborough Hall (near Cullompton IIRC) that's fascinating. It's based around a crumbling mansion house and there are some very interesting cars there - vintage bits stashed inside the house and the like.
From memory, Allparts on Marsh Barton trading estate in Exeter maybe worth a try, Kirton Motor Spares in Crediton and then I think Tiverton Junction Autospares still exists in Willand.
Depends where you are in the South West of course!
There's one off the A38 just as you get into Bridgwater from Taunton as well, helpfully I can't remember what it's called though.
Been a few years since I've been to any of these, but hopefully useful anyway.

Thank you!I have been trying to remember the location of this place for bloody years. The last time I saw it was about 7 years ago.

I've heard of this, but never known where it was. We went up cullompton, and then went along the road to honiton and turned north up some lanes and came out near dunkeswell, but no sign of anything, unless it's to the north or west. White horse near exeter is massive, there's a good one down in woodbury, there's newburys out of honiton on the 303, there' one on the A35 between honiton and axminster that's meant to be quite good.
That's all the ones I know, and that pretty much covers east devon.

blimey, is it still there. Last time I was there must have been 20yrs ago & it looked like the house wouldn't stand for another 20!Silver Lake are probably the biggest down near Southampton/Porsmouth http://www.silverlakeautoparts.co.uk/

It's seven or eight years since I've been. The actual selection of cars with salvageable components was pretty small - I can't say I'm a great expert on scrapyards to compare it though to be fair - but it was just fascinating. There were rear axles inside the house fitted with artillery wheels, for example. I think they went out of fashion in about 1922...
I believe I'm right in saying there's another scrapyard in that area on the A35 just past Wilmington, but I doubt it's quite as fun as Blackborough Hall.

All of which is possibly a bit off-topic if you're looking for serviceable bits for a relatively recent 205 in the Poole area, sorry.

Definately worth the trip from Poole for them! Have used them countless times and saved a fortune on used bits for bangers as well as making a couple of quid getting rid of old 'uns.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
