I am looking for a decent performance car but need to get a 13 year old in the back. Have just got rid of a 6 series that worked for us and am looking to go up market a bit to may be a DB9 or a Bentley - anything out there I am missing? I have got about 50k. New to the site so be gentle.

I have a DB9 and you will not fit a 13 year old in the back unless, they sit behind the passenger, who has there seat all the way forward, or he is an amputee!

Same for the Bentley, sorry.

My Dad has the Conti GT and it is so cramped in the back.

None of our family are particularly tall either.

Why not get an M6 if you liked the 6 series?

Thanks for advice so far. Really hoped to get into a 911 but we tried this weekend and it really was not happening! Why do manufacturers not really cater for this requirement. I know I am not alone in having kids! Do not want a fast 4 door although there are plenty around.

Merc CL is a great call - CL500, 600, or AMG models are all quick.

You mention the 6 series - what about an M6?

Or, for greater practicality, a Jag XFR saloon or Merc E63 AMG?

There's always the Panamera

Or the Maserati Quattroporte S?

OK I will have a look at the merc but do you not need to be 60 and have golf clubs permanently in the back?

Dunno about that but it's not really "going upmarket"

Maserati Gran Turismo from £55k now.

Wouldn't like to do 20k a year in one, but a very special car.

I agree I was hoping for something more than a merc. However I guess 'up market' is a very subjective comment! What i really meant was something more performance oriented over a 650 although it was a lot of fun. I was hoping for something that i could sneak on to a track day but meet family requirements. Probably in la la land?

I sat in a Maserati Granturismo and it was plenty big enough in the back!

Are there back seats in a 575? From the classifieds it would appear no?

A Maserati is definitely "going upmarket"
