ok then so heres what i cant understand....

when the new plates started they were, for example

02 = 1st half of year
52 = 2nd half of year

correct yes... so what happens when we get halfway through this year?

10 = 1st half of year
50 = 2nd half of year? surely not

does anyone know?

Is it me just noticing more cars with 10 plates such as M10, J190 etc, I am sure there are a number of new ones that have opted to buy one of these??

Probably to do with the recent scrappage scheme. A lot more people went out to get their hands on a new motor with an incentive from the government.

I don't see why the numbering system seems to confuse so many people?

The early issue is the year, and follows a reasonably obvious sequence. i.e. 08, 09, 10.... Next one will be 11.

The second new plate of the year adds 50, so 55, 56, 57, 58, 59 with the next one being 60.

Not really tricky maths.

Next weeks lesson: What comes next in this list?: A, B, C, D, ?

Unless it was XX 10 XXX it is an old plate so M10 unless it had another letter at the start it is an old plate from 94, and J 190 is also an old plate.

But not everyone can count beyond ten though, like you clever scientist technical folks can.

Toes. It's all about using the toes. Counting above 20 (here's the clever bit) - count them again! You learn these tips in clever scientist class.

This has all been said on loads of other threads on the same topic before too.

Many things on PH have been asked and answered in many different ways.

Do you know what would happen if there was an aeroplane on a conveyor belt though?

If you remember it you win one, like in the generation game.
