British racing green

Hi gents!

So all of you are very proud of nicely build British (race) cars, but somehow I only rarely see them painted in British racing green.
Am keen to find out which colour you think is the nicest shade of BRG.
Would also love to receive some colour codes as well as pictures of cars painted in BRG.

There were several interpretations, it seems, depending on the manufacturer.

Aston Martin used a lighter pea-coloured shade:



Vanwall was the closest to pure BRG I suppose:



And then there were variations on the theme with different nosecones etc - Lotus with yellow etc

Some BRMs were close to lime green:



An interesting variation turned up on the Ferrari-Vanwall 'Thin Wall Special':



All seemed to die out when sponsorship came into F1 and the Lotuses were painted 'Gold Leaf' red over white. The last main teams to sport BRG were Jaguar F1, with their metallic shade:



And Bentley with their 'two-tone' approach:



It's a pity fewer British manufacturers don't use BRG, as the classic colour combination of BRG with a nicely contrasting hide trim on a typically 'curvy' British sports car (of the sort our kit car companies do so well) looks fantastic:

BRG isn't a colour - any green will do. It's usually a darker green.

I'd say that the green in this logo is closest to what I'd call BRG.

To me, BRG has to be very dark, almost like dark grey.

My old mk1 MX5 was a british racing green, lovely colour for it.

I reckon BRG is RAL 6005, as used on my Father-in-Law's Mk VI..



whereas his Derby was a Land Rover green...

It always will be the first shamrock green for me.

And I have been in the original car In Ireland!

It's actually Irish Racing Green, first seen on a Napier at the Gordon Bennet Race in Ireland 1904.

It's actually Brooklands Green - a 70's BL colour used on Triumphs mainly.

There is no 'correct' BRG - It was just the colour British entered cars were supposed to be in race before the corporate sponsors took over.

1903 not 1904. I drive over to your part of the world every year in an old racing car with quite a few other nutters to commemorate it.

The 1904 Gordon Bennett was in Germany.
Sorry for being an arse but its the era of racing I am most interested in.

Till now the DB3 as well as the Bentleys, both the very dark GT car as well as the historic ones, look the sexiest to me.
Do you have the colour codes for me?
Are the Elise as well as the 7 painted in the colour of the Lotus logo?
@motco, what's the first car you posted? Looks lovely.
