So I am getting a bit sick of having a car sitting in my garage and not being able to use it until the weekend comes. All thaat money tied up doesn't make sense to me. I love the car but, I feel it may be time to pass it's fun onto someone else.

Now then, what do I replace it with that can be used every day?

I've been looking at M3s, Audi S4s, Merc C36 AMGs.

Then I also thought of Lotus Elises, VX220s. ETA Nissan 350Z but not sure about them holding price too well.

I would like something that won't lose too much money. It will still be a second car but used more often.

Budget up to £15k(ish)

I also like Imprezas but they lose too much money

S4 or M3 for me, leaning heavily towards the M3.

i would personally go for an M3, refined enough for use as a daily but definitely got the minerals to keep you interested on a weekend drive!

Did you need the Cerbera's four seats?

I wouldn't go with an M3 - compared with the Cerbera it won't half seem boring.

Gets 15-18mpg (30+ miles journey to work and I often use car for work) and its not much fun to drive in the rain never mind the snow/ice.

This is what I'm worried about, but not critical really as I'm sure they are good fun cars.

Don't need 4 seats, though a boot is advantageous. Just love the look of the Cerbs.

How would you use a Elise or VX220 more than a TVR?

The only reason the TVR isn't used as much is basically because of the running costs, I don't just mean petrol either. £120-£150 a tyre (last a year if I'm lucky), 15 - 18 mpg, £1000 service every 12 month with a £600 one in between (that's before anything that needs fixing), Limited insurance (6000 miles) to keep cost down.

MX-5 paperbag

I was away to say these represent the very basic needs of a car. But then so does a TVR scratchchin

I'm terribly sorry I don't understand, why would you not have a TVR when you CAN have a TVR?!?!?!? yikes

Especially when a Chimaera would be a fine every day use car.....;)

I also have a full head of hair and no chest wig (yet) - I am trying to start a new Breed of TVR Chimaera owners (but shhh, don't tell them at meets!)...

ETA - running costs of a Chimaera are better than that, plus new tyres a year? It's "easy" to keep a set of tyres for 3 years (and I speak as someone who went through a set of rears in 3000 miles......), plus indies for servicing.. Fuel is a good 25mpg on a run with a Chimaera, only into the low teens when you are a tad, uh, enthusiastic with the right foot...
