How to do it? Got an engine and a gearbox, like the title suggests, that I want to sell. Going to stick them on ebay. Collection only? Rules out a lot of buyers.
They are heavy. Royal mail will say fk off!
Any couriers or delivery firms recommended?

Pallet them up and any courier will take them as long as there not leaking oil, most people would be willing to collect though i would have thought.

It can certainly be done, but thats the limit of useful information i have. Not too expensive either.

I will suggest asking on the driftworks forum as i imagine they probably encounter this sort of thing the most!

Palletforce.com will do it and they're great.

If the engine and gearbox are the kind of thing a modifier, kit car enthusiast or similar would want then they will likely be up for collecting from you anyway.

In the past I have had some epic Road trips collecting engines and sheds for various projects.

As said above, a pallet is the way. Cost 40-50 quid. Get hold of a pallet from a skip or wherever, buy some pallet wrap (saran wrap) from ebay for a couple of quid, and job's the proverbial good 'un.
