The MP4-12C really is good looking
Discussion
Slobbing around on St Neots market square on Saturday afternoon recovering from a rather intense hoon and a deep blue MP4-12C trundled past. Odd. Didn't expect to see that.
I was in the camp of "Yes, I'm sure it's all very nice but looks like it should have a Hyundai badge on it." but now having seen it in the flesh I've swayed so far the other way that I actually get a bonk on just thinking about it. It is perfectly proportioned and utterly beautiful. I can't recall the last car that looked so much better in the flesh compared to its press photos.
So as a plea to those of you who have only seen the photos and aren't convinced, please, please wait until you've seen it for real - it's magnificent!
NB: For the nerdy spotters out there, the registration started with RX10.

This is likely the car you saw. Here it is seen just coming to the end of the assembly process at the MTC. The color name is 'Azure Blue' and it's a stunner - my favorite from the ones McLaren offer by far.

Not sure I could keep that interior looking clean and I'd probably go for a carbon splitter in the front. Definitely a great looking car.

Having seen it in the metal, I really don't think it has much road presence compared to what it'll be competing with in the marketplace. I was going to reserve full judgement until after I'd seen it properly, having not been hugely impressed with the styling in photographs, I'm still underwhelmed, no doubt the styling is 'nice', but if it's not going to be hugely aesthetically pleasing, then it should make up for it in over-whelming vulgarity and presence, it does neither.

McLaren have set out to build the best car, not the prettiest....so we'll wait and see how it drives. The 12C has been developed as a 'world car' in an attempt to conform to as many legislative standards around the world with as few changes as possible.
McLaren expects 30 percent of its global sales to come from North America and those indicators with a reflector built into them are a requirement on vehicles sold here.
