I know its been done to death on here and the consensus seems to be merge in turn but this was taking the piss. Sat on th M3 on Saturday trying to get to the airshow, the left lane was solid with traffic all the way from the M25 right down to the exit slip road and all the way round the roundabouts, down the DC's and into the car parks (I presume, I never got this far).

We were in the nearside lane crawling along for about two hours, yet tts were driving down the middle lane, Stopping right near the exit slip and indicating left to be let in. What the fk makes them more important that me. And why oh why would dheads in front that have spent as long as me in the queue let said tts in. Also two cars flew down the hard shoulder, with hazards on of course, to make it alright. I can fully understand why people get dragged out of their cars and get a good pummeling. I had the door open twice but was told to calm down (by friend) as the person in front may have a gun, I kid you not.

And dont bang on about merging in turn as every vehicle that pushes in front makes the queue longer for the people that did wait, traffic lights only let the same amount of cars through on green, only so many cars can enter and fit onto the car parks.

The bell-ends will tell you that they were utilising all of the available carriagway. Erm - no youre a cock who drove to the font to avoid a queue and made the queue worse for those who were able to work it out for themselves.

The same fools also state that all lorries should only drive on the roads whislt theyre alseep.

I am a huge advocate of merge in turn, if it is safe to do so, on a dual carriageway going to one lane for example I will always queue in the lane being closed (usually the right) until I am past the 200yds marker. If the queue is stationary or very slow I adjust my speed to a safe one but a few months back on the A14 I passed 2 miles of near stationary vehicles queuing in lane 1, that just made no sense to me at all I had a journey to complete and broke no laws by not waiting for an extra 30 minutes.

Use the road imo and that includes both lanes. Those who choose to sit in the queue may have plenty of time, either way it's their choice to wait. In the same way as I'll choose to drive slowly past in lane two and merge in turn. If I'm in lane one I'll happily let lane two drivers merge in turn as opposed to some of the twisted, bitter, small minded barstards who try to block them out, fools.

Great a Rant thread. while we are on the subject of merge in turn what do people think about truck drivers who block lane 2 of a dual carriageway in a queue preventing MiT by keeping the same speed as the adjacent traffic thus causing more congestion. I have seen this happen several times driving 1000+ miles per week and the pigheadeness of these people always amazes me. oh well!

Merge in turn is a great idea but is not well publicised enough for people to get it.

As for the last minute piss takers who jump the queues then they can fk off as they are doubling the queue size in the first place. Try the Blackwall tunnel southbound of an evening. The number of absolute s who dive up the leftmost local lane and then sit indicating to go back into the tunnel queue is massive.

Dont see how this situation can be classed as merge in turn, the left lane had standing traffic on it, all the way down and off the slip road, cars were driving down the middle lane and stopping with a clear lane in front of them, forcing people behind them who wanted to go straight on to stop as well. I thought it was against the law to stop on a motorway except in an emergency.

There isn't any 'queue' just a line of traffic. In fact there would be two lines of traffic merging in turn if it wasn't for 'cocks' who like to sit in a single long line and none of this pathetic 'your jumping in front crap' to be talked about. Not only that traffic would move faster through the blockage point because you wouldn't get hold ups caused by road vigilantes trying to block so called queue jumpers. This st only happens in the UK.
