Ford & Ferrari at Le Mans book
Discussion
I just finished a great book about the building of the GT40 and the Ford/Ferrari battles at Le Mans in the '60s. Very well researched with lots of interesting colour on the iron-testicled eccentrics who raced sports cars back then. I particularly enjoyed the bit about what passed for aero in the 1960s: to counter high-speed lift off on the Mulsanne straight - two days before the race - the engineers simply bent two sheets of aluminium over the back of a catering truck and welded them to the car.
Well worth a read. Few nice pics in there as well.
It's called "Go Like Hell", by AJ Baime.

Read this last year, as you say a marvellous period piece and a testament to the unquenchable enthusiasm of Carroll Shelby, Ken Miles and others, by Crikey taking the first 'unsorted' Ford Mk 4 down Mulsanne must've been terrifying with that leviathan 427FE bellowing away behind you.
