Best mate is looking for a car to replace his 54 plate 2.2 Z4 he is now doing a 60 mile commute every day and doesn’t feel that the Z4 is ideal for it.

What he wants:

£18k budget
Looks more expensive than it is
Good fuel eco
Sporty Pref a coupe/conv
Reliable

The only car I have been able to come up with is a 320d Coupe.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

That seems very cheap. Not surprised it's sold.

Define good fuel economy. That'll be the limiter.

My Z4 Coupé will do 40mpg if you tread with a very light foot (which is about the same as flooring it everywhere in a 320d hehe).

You're right though, unless we're talking lightweights like an Elise, most truly sporty cars that are also comfortable will struggle to get much over 30mpg average.

I struggle to see why the OP's friend feels that his Z4 isn't suited to a long commute - I actually bought mine for long motorway journeys! I think the OP is bang on with a 320d though - they handle surprisingly well, do great mpg, and will be a comfortable place to be during the commute.

Nice car there, but i wouldnt say its a million miles from the Z4 he already has, in terms of Comfort reliability etc.

OP be more precise, has he turned into a ol man and wants to get away from the convertible sports car and get a tarted up rep mobile, i.e bmw coupe etc, Or what??

There arent many cars that you cant get for 18k.
