Hi all ,im just in the process of trying to sell my e46 320d touring and im considering what to replace it with.Ive come up with 2 options either a st220 or a vectra 3.2 gsi and woundered what you guys thinks is the best as a long term buy.The vectra seems the cheapest of the 2 options and im being swayed in that direction at the moment.I know they both drive differently and that the st is probally the best drivers car but i like the understated looks of the vectra.Cant decide HELP!
Oh if theres anyone intrested in doing a swap for either give us a shout.Thanks.

Mazda 6 MPS! Having driven both petrol and diesel Mondeo ST's it's a great car but the MPS is better. Never driven the Vectra as it's a Vectra and I don't think I could do it to myself.

I had a Vectra GSi for over two years and it was a fantastic car over the whole two years i owned it, but i was always envious of the ST220 crowd and as much as i loved my car i always regret not getting an ST220.

Both cars are good in different ways though so it's just down to individual choice.

I'd go for the Vectra. I think it looks better and sounds better than the Ford.

One is a vauxhall and the other one isn't. So on that basis I'd go for the st220.

The ST220 is the one I would go for, better all rounder imo. Although is the Vectra GSI the ones Thames Valley use on road wars? If so they look quite smart!

Ford every time

Vectras are just st, and a gsi is just proof that you cant polish a turd

btw mazda 6 mps would be even better if u can find one in budget

One million percent ST220. Far, far nicer car to drive and a nicer environment to be in.

Fair play ST220 should be the choice then.

Wow, I didn't realise that Mazda6 MPS were that cheap! There's a couple on the classifieds for £6,000!

On that budget forget the 220, it will rust like an old bag of st.

ETA-unless the seller has paper work to prove all doors have been replaced with the revised versions!!

Maybe, I still prefer the looks of the Mondeo, the Vectra is a nice looking car though but it'll be st.

They all fall into the band L £400+ a year tax bracket, whereas a slightly earlier ST220 will put you in band K. Obviously I'm a little biased, but I'd go for the ST220 out of the choices you've listed.

Well if the doors rot out you'll be spending the £200 you made on cheaper tax on fixing them...
