My wife runs a '53 RX300 which is a fantastic car but being a 3.0 v6 is quite thirsty - 20mpg round town... It has everything on it and with 2 kids has the space for prams/bikes etc...

The mpg has meant she's thinking of changing to an IS250 which whilst not great mpg will certainly be a bit better.

Problem is for the budget she's working with you're looking at IS on a 56/07 with 100k+ miles or going for something with lower spec - no leather/sunroof...

So, should she stick and convert the RX to LPG (currently selling for 48.6lt) or go for a newer IS?

Would do but only have a limited budget - only got a couple of grand cash and p/x of the Rx is about £9k

I'm running a Range Rover on LPG , I've been paying between 58p and 68p per litre , where is it available at 48p ?

Not a sarcastic reply , genuinely would like to buy it for less than 50p per litre

So depending on the mileage on the RX I would convert it. If it is high anyway I would go for the swap.

83k - so if looked after (it is!) should be good for another few miles

head says keep the RX and go for lpg rather than take a chance on something that has less to offer bar being newer - just looking for other's opinions

My Dad's IS250 is averaging 32/33 these days, probably 65-ish% motorway though, the rest is stop-start or in town.

The RX wins - in terms of spec it's got everything on and having worked out the running costs for both this and a IS, the RX when converted to LPG will be running at about 12p per mile. Cheaper than getting a bus!
