What a s
t day.
Bridge ahead sign didnt realise it meant humpback bridge. Turned out to be a huge and i mean HUGE and very deceptive humpback bridge which on approach didnt look that big a deal but which even taken at 40mph would launch you into the air.
Me i hit it at 60mph thinking it was just a little hump bridge which would make the car go light for a second.
Got 2miles down the road to my destination stopped and reversed into a bay and noticed a trail of oil. Sump f
kED!!
To say i was and am annoyed and upset is an understatement especially considering that my recovery driver said the bridge was notorious for catching people out.
Repair bill thankfully
looks like being around 300 quid at this point but wont know for sure until the weekend.
Am i wrong to think that there should have been signs warning that it was infact a serious humpback bridge as even though it had this

sign even if i had slowed to 40/50mph i would still most likely have gone airborne and considering my car is an a4 weighing in at probably 1.5 tons lighter cars would be even more likely to take off at that speed.

My car understandably went airborne probably between 1-3m clear air and came down nose first smashing into the road other side of the bridge. Clearly i realised there may be substantial damage but carried on driving and simply let go of the wheel to see if car would track straight which it did and there were no untoward signs indicating damage like oil light or strange noises from engine etc.

I find it pretty funny that you thought f
k it, its only a small hump at 60mph
although not stopping and still driving was a bit silly..espicaly as you have let oil piss all over the road and could lead to a motorbike rider having a nasty acident. I would get the car checked out asap as that is some serious impact for your car to have, what car was it?
Edit -
I think this thread will grow pretty quick

So you knew it would cause you to lose control of the car?
Sorry Mr Buxomly but i think you've suffered something of a lapse of judgement!
