There used to be a sticky at the top of GG where you could post for these guys but not there any longer??

Anyway, why is my renewal so high?

I am going from a 270bhp group 21 soft top car and the quote is £334 to a 90bhp group 13 car and it's a fair bit more expensive. Is this solely because it is a new car?

My current insurer (the man with the hat and a parrot) sent me my latest renewal information yesterday. They had screwed up my no claims discount and were expecting me to pay just under £900. I rang them, they said the discount was wrong and reset it to four years. New quote was £660.

When I said that I wanted to protect my no claims (this is the first time I have been able to do this) it went up to £790. Needless to say, I don't think i'll be renewing with them. I've had quotes from other insurers for just over £500. My phone call to them last night (which no doubt will have cost me a few quid) was to get the damn paperwork right! Plonkers. smile

I think Flux have the sticky now?
You might be better off with a mainstream insurer.

I'm not being funny when I say that I did call A-Plan.

Often, the guy looking at the forum was able to inject some common sense.

It appears that A-Plan (as good as they are) cannot be competitive on regular cars.

oh i see!

i think i agree.
we've got an arrangement where we have stock 2005 MCS (5k miles a year) and stock 2006 megane 130bhp diseasel thing (20k miles a year) and even though the megane needs to be insured to get the mini insured (wife loads of ncb, me non (cos she used to use our only car at the time for work)) and they're within £50 of each other...
