There will be a lot of snobs along in a minute to knock your choice. But I like these cars a lot and would certainly consider one if I was in the market for such a car.

To assume that just because old Kias were a bit st that all Kias ever built will be st is a bit silly really. Like people who still laugh at Skoda's.

New KIA cars look fantastic, and a big warranty too boot which may help residuals as their rep is starting to pick up

Stage 2 remap, large free flow exhaust, improved induction all helped to achieve around 270bhp (it was 225 as standard).

You know it looks good, you know that there are far better performers on the market, but which aren’t as cheap, and that half your mates will rip the piss and half will nod sagely and pat you on the back.

I’m not sure I could drop that cash on a new car like that but second hand as a £2k shopping trolley in a few years time I could see it on the drive.

I'm a big fan of the new Kias. I'd have one over the equivalent VAG offering at the same price point.

If it's a 1.4, and if it has the same engine as it's sister car the i30, then it'll be 108PS. (Edit: see below)

They do go quite well, the OH has a 1.4 i30 and it can march on well, you really wouldn't know it was a 1.4 - feels similar to a 1.8 Focus on the road.


Edit: It's not the same engine as the i30, and is indeed 88hp. Poor show, Kia.

Just had a play on the configurator. You can get lowering springs as an option. Did you go for them?

The C'eed is probably the only Kia I'd buy. I understand they set out to make a good "European" car. And I think they probably have.

I've been out in one this morning, albeit the 1.6 tdi auto (It's for my Dad ok?) and it did feel well built. It was very well equipped (it was the C'EED 3 spec) which included duel climate/aircon, Bluetooth, cruise control, ipod socket etc.

It was brisk enough for my dad, and it consistently delivered 50mpg+ (indicated) during quite a long test drive which included a bit of motorway and A road driving.

Wont set the world alight but they're bloody good for the money!

I think they look rather nice but I just hope you have more luck with reliability than my grandparents have had with theirs.
