What fun cars can i get for about 1-2k?(Oh noes another one)
Discussion
Before i start, insurance on a MX5/Puma would be 2 grand! So no thanks !
I've got someone coming to hopefully by my astra this weekend, and want to buy a new car for work
Has to be small and fun, so far i've thought of 306 HDi and Old Fiesta Zetec S, and i like both of these but with the HDi being a bit more economical for work i'm leaning towards it..
But there must be more out there? Come on guys i need some inspiration
Has to be no more than group 9 insurance!
Not bothered about age, just a practical everyday fun car.
Regards
Danny

well for a start dont let the insurance "groups" put you of, they are a VEY loose guide to cost. But my bet would be on a 205 GTi. Can't get much more un or rewarding, enough go to get you in trouble and they are very different to all the washing machines and microwaves on the road.
Yes I am a little biased.

Just had a quote at 1800, think i'll have to leave it
that was with admiral too third party !How about a 106 Quiksilver? Looks like a GTI, but has a 1.4 8v engine. I've driven a 1.1 106 and it was a hoot to drive! Very small interior though.
How about a Focus? I had a 1.8 Zetec, was group 8 I think. A little more watered down that some of the cars mentioned. But its a very involving drive when pushed.

no, really....
seriously.....
they had the 1400 k series engine and were a hoot to drive. they only had about 100 bhp, but they are a complete sleeper car as they looked like something your nan would drive. the 3 door wasnt that bad looking either. with a few minor mods they could corner as well as they went in a straight line. i never got tired of that engine, it was a cracker. you can get them for under a grand easily and just get some 15" wheels and tyres for it to replace the 14"s they had. ace little cars. massively ignored but a great car for b roads too.

I am rather a Rover 200 fanboy tbh, but it would be too tempting to make a BRM rep! (I already have the alloys in my garage.. for some random reason!)no, really....

I'll look into the quicksilver, surely it would be just aswell getting the chav VTR though with the larger engine? How about a Focus? I had a 1.8 Zetec, was group 8 I think. A little more watered down that some of the cars mentioned. But its a very involving drive when pushed.
Focus is a good shout too, i'll seek the classifieds
