Budget is 40-45k.

Must be manual. It is a weekend toy, so needs to be special. Less than 30,000 miles. No LHD. Needs to be as quick or quicker than the 997 C2S we had before.

6 or more cylinders. Needs to sound great as well!

Ticked the 911 box before, so looking to try something we havent had before. 360 is fav at the moment, but the manuals seem pretty thin on the ground.

Any other thoughts?

Of your choices I'd pick the Aston. Probably not as fast as the Ferrari but does that really matter in the real world?

More than fast enough I agree. Would be a much newer car than the fezza too, but as special?

First thing is to make sure you have a wide garage, so many that are built today are hopeless for modern cars.

More special IMO, but I'm not a huge fan of Ferraris. Plus, buy British! wink

Have driven a friends, the manuals are rare and not rated that highly? Certainly didnt like the flappy paddle system.

I was in a similar situation recently and I went for the 360, although it's an F1 Spider; I did want a manual Modena, but that noise with the roof down and the kick in the back you get when you pull the paddle at over 5k RPM makes me think I made the right choice!

For me a Ferrari is just one of those things you have to own at some point in your life, the Aston can wait for older years!

Did you ever find out what that pump was for on top of the engine?

How about this?

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1713943.htm

Looks clean as a whistle and interior looks like it has never been sat in. I'd say it's more likely to give you a real pulse-pounding driving experience than the other cars you are looking at, and offers more at lower speeds certainly. Isn't a little excitement what everyone deserves?

There are a few more tidy examples in the PH classifieds, but that flip colour one is the best imo. There is one just like that drives around Newcastle city centre, "presence" doesn't begin to describe it. The side mounted twin exhausts at the rear give the most raucous note when you open it up too.

What I'd give to face this dilemma... smile

For me it'd have to be the Aston no question. As far as those with vaguely attainable price tags go (in the future that is, maybe, whereas I doubt I'll ever be in the 250 GTO income bracket, for example) it's my ultimate fantasy garage filler.

I'm a big fan of the Sagaris, but for me - admittedly not having driven either - a T350C for £20-25k holds pretty much the same appeal.
