Insurance after not owning own car for some time?
Discussion
Long story short, I have been through hard times, and I haven't owned my own car, but had use of other peoples, mainly my dad's as a named driver.
I'm 41 and starting over now I'm back on my feet as it were.
IIRC I had seven years no claims, but it's been app four years since I had insurance under my own name.
I've had some group 20 cars in the past, Griffith / Chimera - and would want something sporting again.
What's the best way forward for me? I'm assuming my previous driving record ie no claims isn't relevant now, and I'd be starting from scratch?
Would I be best buying something cheap n' cheerful simply to insure under my own name - even if it gets very little if any use, and piggy back on my dad's insurance for something more interesting ( like some 17 year old ) that we both could use?
We work together in a family business btw.
