Are you a limited company or sole trader whose business involves the motortrade?

No?

No chance.

As others have said, no.

Basically, in order to get a trade policy you'd need to declare yourself a trader. If you are not a trader and claim this you are lying and invalidating your insurance.

Trust me, in the event of any sort of claim, they will check and you'd need to provide invoices, VAT returns etc. to prove you are what you say you are.

That said, if you are a genuine trader, trade insurance does enable the cheap running of all sorts of personal cars. One of the perks of the job (there aren't many).

I used to have a traders policy about 5 years ago.It only cost about £400 a year for third party only plus it covered other people for test drives as long as I was in the car with them. All they wanted from me was to keep receipts and adverts of the cars I was selling.I think I had to sell two cars a month which isn't always easy, and certain cars were not allowed.(evo's subaru's and bmw M cars)I made a couple of quid on some and lost a couple of quid on others. It was just a hobby really and I'm thinking of doing it again,But I think it would be a lot more difficult nowadays. My autotrader is about a quarter the thickness it was five years ago,I think ebay has killed it off.

If you do think you can sell enough cars though I would definitely recommend it.The company I was with was called choicequote, give them a ring and see what they can do for you.

You don't need the trader's policy. You want the mini fleet policy. Check Tradex.co.uk - they are the insurer who offer it (up to 6 cars for personal use), not sure of other companies.
