With a trip to Germany, and multiple runs to London for a funeral and the prep. I have covered 2000 miles in the past 7 days! 3600 in July.

Thats 800 litres of fuel this month!

Just wanted to share my financial pain. smile

Chief i work in Bergen Belson, Germany which i might add is a cheery little place apart from the mounds of mass graves and my house is in Shropshire. 730 miles one way. 1460 miles door to door which i do every couple of months. personally i don't mind as my cars are never new but the guys buying the new cars do cringe a bit.

in a sadictic way i kind of enjoy it.

still 3600 miles in one month is mental. what vehicle do you drive/costs etc just out of interest.

interesting subject though.

Whoop.

Colour me unexcited.

A mate who is a rep does similar mileage most weeks of the year in a scabby diesel golf and doesn't brag or moan about it.

If you were doing it in something exotic, exciting or unusual, then I might listen.

no professing I am setting world records, but I normally do 500/week, so 3600 in a month and 2000 since last Sunday is a lot for me!

No rep mobiles, all my own money and private miles. No poxy diesel.

Done in a 169k (now anyway!) 2000 BMW 530iA. Been very comfortable!

I have a friend whop is a logistics manager for a major European firm and he commutes from bath to eithe Milton Keynes or Uxbridge every day. Their company car policy is every three years or every 100K miles. He is doing over 90 K per annum and the company will NOT allow him to trade in his 3 series BMW, 320i. All motorway miles and he does not complain.....I would. What a waste of time!

when do you expect he, during a bath or other moment of clarity, will ask 'what on earth am I doing?'

90000 miles a year just to get to the day job. Unreal.

Over the last five years, I've averaged 4,500 miles per month.

Did 65,800 in the last tax year.

thats good going in a week!

A pal of mine did 107k in 2 yrs when he got his first company car with fuel card, needless to say his boss was not happy when they came to trade the car for a new one on its 2nd anniversary and was told how little it was worth having covered over 4 times its expected mileage for age.

The op is only commenting as it is way more then usual for him.

If I drove even 1500 miles in a month, I'd consider that mega miles for me as I take the train to work so car is only used on weekends.

Our last holiday covered the following in order by car>
Norway, Denmark, UK, France, Andora, Spain, Gibraltar,
Then turn around:
Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway.

Covered all the countries in about a weeks worth of driving in a Range Rover. The most was 4 tanks of fuel in 1 day, which was achieved by sitting with the foot planted to the floor all day. Forget the cost of the fuel, it is the depreciation that will kill me (brand new Vogue), started the trip with approx 2000 on the odometer, ended with over 10,000.

It was quite amazing that we never felt uncomfortable once. The car was a dream, although it could do with an increased top speed, which no matter how hard we tried never went over 134leptons.

Trip planned here:
