Any decent sites available?

Got a quote for my parents car, 1.6 daewoo lanos, automatic, and it came to 3000 pounds.

I'm 19, just got my full licence. And that's a quote UNDER my parents names. who have 9 years no claims.

Is there any places that do insurance for a reasonable price?

Thanks for any help.

Unless you're willing to pay a shed load, It's not going to happen, I was in the same situation as you, but i was looking at a group 5 car, came back at £2300 and £5600 for a group 14, all in my own name.

Insurance for young drivers is a bloody fortune, understandable mind.

Best way is to try classic insurance, seen a few people on here with footman james and they seem fairly reasonable.

Sell yourself??

It's a nightmare getting cheap insurance, I've had the same problem... Just keep searching - go to all the comparison sites and you would have covered at least 90% of the insurers

I know young drivers have to pay a lot on insurance as I'm still having that problem myself, but that seems a hell of a lot. Use comparison sites to get an idea but ring the company direct and you should get it cheaper. At 19 I didn't pay that much on my own policy on a 1.6 Honda Civic.

I'm 18 with a years no claims. First year I had a 1.4 206 which was just under £2000, me being the policy holder and main driver with parents on as named drivers etc. Now have a 2.0 GTi 180 206 (Group 17) and is costing me £1300 with Admiral.

Move up to the North East of Scotland in the middle of nowhere, you get cheap insurance because of the low risk area code.

That sounds about right for the car to be honest. If you want it cheaper get one of those 600cc Daewoo Matiz things. You'll look like a knob for a year but at least it will be cheap. Be careful and get a couple of years no claims under your belt in that and then get something nice that you can keep for a while. Don't modify it, it's all dead money and it will make no difference to performance anyway. I am speaking from experience here because I did all that with my first car and ended up breaking it it was worth so little.
Make sure you get insurance in your own name. It makes hardly any difference in price and is often cheaper because insurance companies have cottoned onto "Fronting" ie putting yourself as a named driver. In addition, you'll get no claims. Again, I wish I had done this when I first started because I am still paying 1800 (albeit on a fairly quick car) after 2 years of driving.
It will amaze you what you can insure with 2 years no claims at 21 at a reasonable price. Get a banger and don't crash.
Good luck and be careful.

For a 1.6 that's pretty average I would've thought.

As others have said, classic insurance appears to be the cheapest; something I wish I'd known this time last year!
