Wife's Laguna screenwash has developed a horrendous stink. I washed and rinsed the tank through and it cured it for a while. Now the stink is back. Any ideas how to cure it? It's worse on hot days, to the point you feel sick when using it.

Hi there!

This is not as trivial as it sounds, as these containers can be notorious breeding grounds for all sorts of nasty bacteria, including the legionnaire kind.....needs to be cleaned with anti-bacterial chemicals......I'd just replace the lot.

I'm not shelling out for a new bottle, pump and piping. It's a laguna so renault will want a kidney. Think i shall run a bottle of anti-bacterial cleaner through it and see what that does.

Could try just buying Halfrauds scented stuff ? I've been in cars with screenwash smelling of apples and flowers before.... driven by females...

Does it get filled with washing up liquid? I know that sounds like an odd question, but the stuff stinks like sewage after a while, and leaves nasty black slime in the bottle too

Wouldn't using a strong concentration of screen wash kill anything in there anyway?

Gets filled with blue screenwash. Shall flush it then fill it with neat screenwash to see what it does this time.

I've got a similar problem with my Golf, someone suggested popping a couple of water purification tablets in, I've not tried it but it may we worth a punt.
