So seems i have found the ideal car for my 3 months of travelling in Australia. Its a leggy old Volvo 240gl. Has anyone any experience of them and is there anything apart from the obvious to llok out for? I will be taking it on a good test drive and checking all the usual stuff but it never hurts to have a little extra knowledge.
Here is the car in question http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motor...

Looks ok but if/when you need a part and you're in the middle of the bush you'll be pissed off you didn't get that Falcodore or Toyota (or possibly Mitsubishi)
I also notice the absence of the term 'air con'. That would be a breaker for me.

Rego ‘till Dec 2010
· Automatic
· Cheap to run!
· BURNS VERY LITTLE OIL!
· Regularly serviced by mechanics!
· Great condition, no rust!
· 310,000Kms

My capitals. That would be my steer clear sentance.

that volvo engine isn't really known for burning oil, so it's probably just worn piston rings - after 200k its probably to be expected a little.
