Hi,

I was intending to fit a Mega Squirt and Race Logic Traction control but I was wondering if the better solution might be an ECU that does both.

But I'd like a simple method (like a switch rather than a laptop) to turn the traction on and off.

What options are there ?

Thanks

Mr Darcy

Link Extereme is a decent ECU. But if you have the money then the only sensible option is a Motec 800. Awesome piece of kit but the price can spiral wildly once you start adding on modules.

yes

Motec is very highly regarded. Link stuff a bit cheaper but also very good for the money. Don't know about the whole traction control thing though.

Thanks for the replies...

They don't make it easy to decide / buy.

I can't find a UK dealer for either Link nor Motec on their sites nor pricing nor what extras I need to make it work.

Vixpy - thanks but I'd rather stick to a well known make in case of problems in years to come - better chance of finding parts etc which is why I liked the idea of the Mega Squirt.

I liked the link, it worked well for my application.

Motec seem to be the industry leader but come at a price. Emerald and MBE also always seemed to be well regarded and a little cheaper.

The link G4 will set you back about 1500 and does a kind of traction control out of the box

It also does launch control. These will cost you abot
250 to turn on.

I have a motec in the elise. All in all that set me back
About 6k fitted and mapped. All the modules/add ons bang
The price up but it is the dogs nuts.

Have you looked at getting a efi or vtec (think its called a vtec)

Oh and make sure no matter which one you get you can
Find someone who can map it/program it.

The old advice was find a mapper who you trust, then pick the ECU they like best.

I hear good things about Surry rolling road, too bad their MD isn't on here... hehe

Just had an Email back from Link Tech. they say none of their ECU's have proper traction control.

I would intend to map the ECU myself - done them before - its not rocket science.

From the looks of things then the Megasquirt and Racelogic with a combined price of circa £1200 might be the way to go after all.
