Car failed the emissions test badly cutting out the machine so abandoning the test,tester says there is oil in the exhaust,The car runs and sounds ok,only smokes when reved hard,compression test reads 145 psi on all cylenders,there was oil on a couple of plugs and on the top of a couple of pistons,could it be the valve seals

New plugs first. Then stick some of that redex in the tank and give it a thrash for 30 mins, lots of high revs, but wait untill its warmed up.

Immissions? Is that like an immersion?

If there's oil in the exhaust, and it's blowing blue, then the catalyst is almost certainly knackered. You need to get the oil issues sorted, THEN and only then get a new catalyst.

Take the cap off the coolant header tank. Any strange smell or signs of emulsion in there? If so, it could be head gasket failure.
